Still alive – contrary to rumours…

Finally, more than two months late, the new-look all-singing all-dancing Royal Mail, Post Office and Parcelforce websites are due to go live tonight. This means I may get my life back and have time to do things like post here again…

Actually, lack of time will shortly cease to be a problem as I have decided to take a sabbatical from the Royal Mail for a couple of months. I may do other work in that time, I may not. And I may find when the sabbatical's over there's no work to go back to, so it's a bit of a gamble. But it's worth doing.

I've also taken the difficult decision to withdraw from the Parliamentary candidate selection process in Esher and Walton. It's a lovely area, with good people – but there was a reason why I gave up politics over the summer. Quite a lot of reasons, actually. And although my actions in Esher and Walton are embarrassing, they're one hell of a lot less embarrassing than what could have happened if I'd pressed on, become candidate, and only *then* had the crisis of confidence…

Other than that, well, Christmas involved some frantic travelling – at midnight at either end of Christmas Day I was on the M25 – but New Year in a cottage in Cornwall was relaxing and fun.

Since then it's been all hard work.

Here's some photos from since I last posted.
